Prior to his first company, Jake spent several years working in the banking industry, where he worked with new businesses to set up accounts and loans. He worked with business plans, guiding clients through the formation of their business and building their banking relationship.
Following those years, Jake’s next career was in the medical device industry. He spent time here as a project manager, guiding the master data portion of a multi-year global compliance project. This required collaborations from all parts of a large company to come together and execute on a specific timeline.
While in this role, Jake began a consulting group within that company which was built to help his peers automate their repetitive tasks. This was most specifically through the use of Microsoft Excel and other MS Office products. Through this program, he was able to guide his team to saving nearly 85,000 hours per year across the company through the automation of many different kinds of tasks.
Jake realized he was an entrepreneur. It was time to venture off on his own. He began working with his wife to start Presidential Brewing Company, opening the brewery and full service restaurant in 2019.
As you will remember, the hospitality industry was turned on its head in early 2020, not even a full year into operating his brewery. Jake and his wife had to reinvent the identity of their company, which was no longer allowed to sell anything the way they had for the first year of the business. They quickly transitioned to a take-out business to survive the turmoil that a global pandemic brought to his industry. During that time, six breweries closed within 10 miles radius, but Presidential Brewing survived.
Presidential Brewing Company is still operational today, employing more than 30 people and doing $1.1 million+ per year in revenue. His business mostly runs itself with the excellent leadership team he has built carrying out the bulk of the work. His business went from surviving to thriving.
